Last night, New Year's Eve, started with a tasty spaghetti and meat sauce dinner, the old bolognese sauce recipe my mom used to make. My recipe pretty much follows hers but it is always slightly different depending on the ingredients at hand...no one complains though.
Elliot, home for the holidays, suited up with Nathan, his friend and roommate in Calgary, for the evening's festivities. Jeff and his girlfriend Sam stopped by before their New Years Eve party. I haven't seen Jeff for a long time. Elliot went to Montessori school with him when they were about 3 years old and has remained friends since then. My sister Arlene visited from Montreal to be wiith us this Christmas and pampered us all with her new skills . She just got certified for Thai Yoga Massage. Laureline, a friend of Elliot's, joined us (Elliot, Dan, Arlene and me) for our big christmas dinner along with good friends...Jennifer, Dean, Jane and Sherman. And Dan's daughter Meredith arrives today from Fredericton for a week so we are looking forward to that too. Of course we miss our family who are in Montreal and Saint John...but you were definitely in our thoughts.
Our home, usually quiet, has been filled with life love and laughter...and I feel so thankful.
And so New Year's Eve....Arlene Dan and I stayed at home, watched movies and drank Champagne and of course ate more...our favourite hobby these last few weeks. We talked about being so full and yes when more food shows up in front of us we continued to dig in....eagerly...
We work hard through the year...and it is times like this that we love to relax and reflect on the year that was...and look forward to the Year ahead.
Thank you all for being a part of it.
Happy New Year....and all sweet things...
until we bake again.....
